Ann Ploysongsang
Ann is a Thai litigator, who is fluent in English. She has fifteen years experience advising and litigating on behalf of both Thai and international clients in many different practice areas having practiced law at Tilleke & Gibbins International and in her own private practice.

Ann is also an experienced patent agent in Thailand. Some of her recent clients include: Deuter (German outdoor equipment manufacturer), Kannegiesser (German laundry technology expert), Kasetsart University, General Electric International Incorporated, Creative Technology Ltd., and the Thai Ministry of Energy to name just a few.

Ann obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree from Thammasat University and her Master of Laws in Business Law (International Program) from Chulalongkorn University, which offers this joint program with the law faculties of the University of British Columbia (Canada), University of Victoria (Canada), and Kyushu University (Japan). She graduated in the top 15 percent of her LLM class.
While at Chulalongkorn, Ann had the distinction of having her individual research paper, Correcting Inherent Flaws in the ASEAN/AFTA Dispute Settlement Mechanism: Use of the GATT/WTO Dispute Settlement Mechanism as a Model, published in the Chulalongkorn Law Journal, Vol. 21 of 1 May 2002.
In addition to her lawyer’s license, Ann has earned the Thai barrister qualification and is a notarial services attorney. She is also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK). Most notably, Ann ranked first in her class of over 170 experienced judges, lawyers, engineers, scientists and government officials in an intellectual property law course offered by the Judicial Training Institute of the Thai Ministry of Justice, and now is an active patent agent as a result. She is a strong advocate for continuing legal education and has completed courses on bankruptcy law, e-commerce, and international trade among others. Her abilities were most recently recognized when she was awarded a competitive scholarship from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to study for a post-graduate diploma in intellectual property through the University of South Africa (UNISA).
Ann’s commitment to the rule of law in Thailand is reflected in her numerous volunteer and extra-work activities. Until its recent dissolution, Ann served as a Member of the Telecommunications Sub-Committee and a Researcher for the Investment in Capital Market Sub-Committee – both of the Thai Senate. It is hoped that she will return to these Committees once the Senate if fully functional again. She currently volunteers much of her free time with the Lawyers Council of Thailand Under Royal Patronage serving as the Secretary to the President, and as a Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee. She also serves as Editor-in-Chief for the biweekly newspaper, Law News, which is the newspaper of the Lawyers Council of Thailand and continues to write (together with fellow partner Edward Thiravej Ploysongsang) the column Legal Terms & Concepts Made Easy which now appears in Law News. Lastly, she serves as a regular guest speaker and expert on women’s legal issues on the Yaw Ying Rop Ruu (“W” Well-Rounded Woman) program on the Yor Ying (“W” Woman) cable television channel.
